Sheri Lawrence is currently the Risk Manager at Southern CA Gas Company, a Sempra Utility Organization (SCG) where she manages the Self- Insured Integrated Disability Management Program. Her team Employee Care Services manages the workers’ compensation, Family Medical Leave Act and California Family Rights Act programs for 8,000+ employees. Sheri’s responsibilities also include, vendor management and contracts, const containment, claims system, SIU/Fraud program and Office of Self-Insured Plans compliance. Her department is housed within the Human Resources - Diversity & Inclusion Department. Sheri began her career with SCG in 2018 and has increased and retained a diverse community of suppliers. Her dedication and successful retention rate over 75% earned her a Leadership Diversity & Inclusion Award in 2019. Sheri began her career in Workers’ Compensation at State Compensation Fund Cerritos Branch in 1989. During her career she has held the positions of Claims Examiner, Hearing Representative (Applicant & Defense), Quality Assurance, Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Assistant Vice President and Claims Manager. Ms. Lawrence’s vast experience in the workers’ compensation industry has allowed her to understand the nuances of the industry from every angle. The integration of her skills and dedication to mentorship has allowed her the opportunity to mentor, train and promote those with exceptional skills who would have otherwise not been given the opportunity.
