Dr. Lonky started his medical career as a full time faculty member at UC San Diego College of Medicine. He studied the biochemical effects of various exposures on the lung as well as new ways to measure asthmatic damage to the lung. He came to Los Angeles in 1982, and has been involved in treating and evaluating injured workers since 1984. He has been a QME and AME since these programs began, evaluating patients with suspected internal medicine and respiratory impairments, as well as evaluating individuals with suspected toxic exposures. He is co-author of the acclaimed book, Invisible Killers; The truth about environmental genocide. He has been called upon as an expert to adjudicate cases concerning the medical effects of toxic exposures, and prides himself in being an authority on what these exposures do and do not cause to happen. In addition, he has been a champion of decreasing the pharmacologic approach to pain management based on the large number of patients with medication-related side effects.
