Max Breall is the Managing Partner of the firm's Oakland Office. As a Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law, Mr. Breall has spent the past fifteen years defending a vast array of fortune 500 companies against workers’ compensation claims, while helping them avoid civil litigation under FEHA law. Mr. Breall also handles varied and complex subrogation cases for his clients.
In addition to his role as Partner, and as a former player, Mr. Breall defends professional sports leagues and teams as a part of the firm’s Sports Law Practice Group. Further, he is a member of The Sports Lawyers Association, a professional organization whose common goal is the understanding, advancement and ethical practice of sports law.
Mr. Breall frequently presents on a variety of workers’ compensation topics for insurers, self-insured employers and other professional organizations. Committed to furthering his own knowledge in addition to that of his clients and colleagues, Mr. Breall is a member of the Golden Gate RIMS education committee and is an alumni Board Member of the Industrial Council Association.
During the course of his vast legal career, Mr. Breall has acquired extensive experience in the areas of civil litigation and employment law. He has successfully worked numerous cases involving labor disputes, anti-SLAPP cases, city planning issues and water rights matters.
Mr. Breall graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis and completed his Juris Doctorate at Lincoln Law School in Sacramento, California. During law school, Mr. Breall was employed at the California Board of Forestry. There, he was responsible for formulating new legislation and fortransforming the Forest Practice Rules to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act. Mr. Breall is certified both in Rulemaking from the California Office of Administrative Law and in CEQA from the State of California.
