About Amie Peters

Amie C. Peters, Principal of Blue Water Legal, is a duly licensed attorney in Washington.  Her practice emphasizes representing the injured.  Amie is an active litigator licensed to appear before all Washington State Courts, the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for Western Washington. Additionally, Amie has extensive experience handling administrative hearings before U.S. Department of Labor Benefits Review Board, Washington State’s Board of Industrial Insurance Appeals, and the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Administrative Law Judges. Amie attended University of Washington School of Law.  While at UW, Amie was active in various clinic law programs.  She worked as a mediator in the UW’s Mediation Clinic during a year long program on alternative dispute resolution.  She also worked as a children’s advocate in the Children & Youth Advocacy Clinic.  There, she represented youth in dependency proceedings and also assisted with other legal issues faced by dependent children.  She also successfully argued for one of these youths to achieve Special Juvenile Immigrant Status.  Before attending law school, Amie attended Eastern Washington University where graduated summa cum laude with honors.  Her studies emphasized history, government and music.  She also interned for a U.S. Senator and served as chief justice of the associated student body’s court. Since becoming an attorney, Amie has been very active with various professional organizations.  She is a member of the Washington State Association for Justice (WSAJ), American Association for Justice (AAJ), Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG), DOL Joint Bar Association (DOL-JBA), Snohomish County Bar Association, and King County Bar Association.  As part of her work with WILG, Ms. Peters has co-chaired the Longshore Section since 2009 and has worked closely to organize national education events.  Additionally, Amie is a founding member of the DOL-Joint Bar Association, which aims to create consensus between all attorneys to improve access to justice issues involved in the administration of the Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.  As part of Amie’s work with WSAJ, she is a Board Member, co-chair of the 2016 WSAJ Convention, co-chaired the New Member Committee in 2009-2011, co-chaired the Women of WSAJ in 2011-2015, and serves on various WSAJ committees. Amie has received peer recognition for her work.  In 2015, WILG awarded Amie the Longshore Excellence in Practice Award.  Additionally, she received WSAJ’s 2011 “Ready to Soar” New Member award.  She also was awarded WILG’s 2011 “Rising Star” award for her work on behalf of the organization.  Amie has been included in SuperLawyer.com’s “Rising Star” list in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016.  Amie has also received a 10.0 rating by independent lawyer rating service AVVO.com. management topics.
