The problem is that most QMEs are older docs. Many are semiretired. Younger docs want to practice medicine not write reports. To be useful much thought is required to discuss causation and apportionment. ANA rating requies another skill set. Please don’t discourage docs from doing this by over regulation

Dear Dr. Perelman. I agree that issues like causation and apportionment require a lot of review and analysis. Understanding that excessive regulation could inhibit that, I'm just wondering if you have any suggestions on what the DWC can do to enhance the required thoughtful analysis. For example should reimbursements, training, or recruitment be increased, or any other ideas. Thank you.

I had planned to post a well constructed comment, but I stopped myself and decided to rant. Know this: When the bad QME reports start to cost the carriers/employers money, the system will be magically fixed. And, as long as the scheduling services can recruit incompetent doctors with the promise of a big payout for little work and the report training is only 12 hours, the reports will always be garbage. The powers that be refuse to listen to anyone who whose ideas could actually provide solutions. The billionaires like this system just the way it is.
