This bill would encourage contractors to misclassify employees as independent contractors to avoid work comp coverage. These employees, if injured, would receive benefits from the State Uninsured Employer's Benefits Trust Fund rather than from the employer's work comp coverage. Taxpayers should not have to pay for the injured workers of illegally uninsured employers.
