A bill introduced in the Massachusetts House of Representatives would nearly triple the maximum benefit paid to injured workers for bodily disfigurement.
HB 4609, introduced Monday and listed as pending in the House Ways and Means Committee, would amend the state workers' compensation law to increase the maximum bodily disfigurement benefit to $42,950, from the current $15,000.
That sum is payable in addition to all other sums due under state law, which says “no amount shall be payable under this section for disfigurement that is purely scar-based, unless such disfigurement is on the face, neck or hands.”
